When it comes to energy management and your home, there are countless methods to make your living space more energy efficient. From setting your thermostat to 73 degrees when you are home and 75 degrees when you are away to turning off the air conditioner and turning on your ceiling fan, there are hundreds of simple ways to cut your energy costs.
Another simple solution: Replace your incandescent light bulbs with energy efficient compact fluorescent light bulbs (CFLs).
A lot of homeowners still rely on incandescent light bulbs to light their homes, which could help contribute to high energy bills. Yes, incandescent light bulbs are cheaper bulb to bulb, but compact fluorescent light bulbs typically last four to ten times longer and use less energy. This means that while homeowners may spend more initially with compact fluorescent bulbs, they will save money in the long run, both in terms of their energy bills and physically purchasing light bulbs.
Energy Price Projection: Natural Gas Price Increased in July 2012
After bottoming out in January 2012, natural gas prices have continued to rise and in July, averaging $.595 per therm.
U.S. Energy Information Administration (EIA) officials attribute July’s rise in price due to record-setting summer temperatures where numerous daily temperature records were broken. This increased heat combined with increased demand for natural gas for electricity generation contributed to July’s price escalation.
